Requirements
- Hens must be permanently kept in a coop or enclosure meeting shade, heat/wind protection, and drainage standards.
- The bylaw explicitly conditions hen-keeping on it also being authorized by the zoning bylaw in effect for that specific zone — not verified for every residential zone.
- Permits are capped — maximum 20 permits in the first year (2020), then a maximum of 10 permits per year since.
- Selling hens or hen products (eggs, meat, manure) is prohibited.
